My story

Hello! My name is Kim, and I have had the pleasure of calling Devon my home for the past 20 years.

Love life, love animals and have a selection of pet babies including orphan sheep, they’re lovely creatures. Through my career, I’ve worked in various roles, including my current one in bookkeeping, which I enjoy.

My Experience

Over the last few years, I also had the opportunity to support older people. I regularly visited my mother-in-law during her later years when she needed assistance. While I wasn’t her primary carer, I made a point to visit regularly, bringing her meals, sharing conversations, and simply being there for her. It was during this time that I realised how lonely she felt. Similarly, I built friendships with two wonderful elderly couples for when they needed a helping hand. We always chatted about various topics and our chats became a cherished part of my routine. Seeing the difference my visits made to them reinforced my belief that everyone needs company.

Additionally, I have a friend who feels anxious about traveling alone, whether for work or leisure. To help her feel more comfortable, I have been accompany her on these trips. I believe having someone by your side can make all the difference. I firmly believe that companionship is one of the most vital aspects of life. Yet, while there are many care services available for those needing medical or personal assistance, I’ve noticed a gap for individuals who don’t require such support (which sometimes can only be for a few minutes anyway), but really do need someone’s time. And I know how much I enjoy giving that time too !

What I Can Do

So, I’ve decided to become a companion. Whether you’re seeking a friend, a partner, or simply someone to talk to for yourself or a loved one, I am here to help. Life can sometimes feel lonely, especially when family members are busy or live far away. I know what that’s like.

It could be a friendly chat over a cup of tea, a game, or a trip out. Many people are still physically capable and eager to engage with the world, yet they may feel isolated.

Also, when attending events, some may lack confidence or feel nervous. If you need someone to provide comfort, company, little laugh or simply to help you feel at ease, I’m here for you. I’m not a carer, I’m a companion.
